Going crazy

Shannah - shannahj74@hotmail.com

I was in a car accident about two years ago, and gradually started having pain in my tailbone. The doctor says it is coccydynia, and that it was not caused by the accident. I was rear ended. I do not recall ever falling on my tailbone hard enough to break it. The x-rays show that it bends in at the end at a much greater angle than most tailbones do, and an MRI shows no abnormalities.

I have quit going to the chiropractor because I couldn't tell if he was helping or hurting. I have recently had an injection and now (6 days later) my pain is a little worse and a little different. Interestingly enough, I have also been recently diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis, and both problems are currently flaring up. I also suffer from occasional constipation.

Even though I can still function, I feel like I'm going crazy, constantly having to move around and situate myself to feel more comfortable. I am only thirty years old and am afraid of what this will be like in ten, twenty more years. I really want to get pregnant in the near future and I am scared to death that my problem will worsen during pregnancy and birth.

It's so comforting to know that I'm not the only person who has this problem and I wish the best of luck to all of you.
