Sciatiac pain in buttocks

Alice - abbs001@comcast.net

I have had terrible pain in my buttocks for l8 years now. I can sit for 20 minutes, and then I have to stand up. If I am sitting longer than this (at the computer, driving, etc.) then I am in bad pain and have to stand up or lie on my stomach. It hurts when I sit, and now I cannot even lie on either of my hip areas. I only get relief when I lie on my stomach or stand.

I thought I had fibromyalgia, and have been on supplements for this, but no let up on pain.

I went to a pain clinic last week, where they have done injections of SARAPIN in the areas above the sciatic nerve (they do this for fibromyalgia). They say after the 3rd treatment if not feeling better, then the injections would not help. So far, no relief.

I was x-rayed and they found my coccyx broken in two places, and they feel this has caused the nerve pain.

I have osteoporosis, and osteo-arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. My upper spine (neck area) is fusing together and they are treating this with the SARAPIN, and they hope to stop the progression and possibly reverse this.

What can be done for my pain? Do you recommend a chiropractor? Do you know anything about the Pro Care Medical Group in Marietta, Georgia. And, of a Dr. Polk and a surgeon Dr. Alderman? Is this legitimate?

I am taking a trip to London (daughter's marriage) in August and it is a 9 hour flight, with a 4 hour ride in the van once we get to London, etc. I am at wits end.

Please help me with some advice. I am going to be 66 in August of this year (2005).

Thank you.

Alice
