New here

Hi all,

I'm new here, depressed, frightened, and like most of you, in pain.

A few months ago, I was working a lot of overtime and sitting A LOT. My tailbone got kind of sore, but I figured it was a temporary thing. When my work schedule got back to normal, so did my tailbone. THEN, on Memorial Day weekend, I went for a ride on my hubby's new Harley. I was in AGONY after just a few minutes. There was no comfortable position. By the time, we got home, I was in tears from the pain. But after a few days of taking it easy, it was better.

About 2 weeks after the Harley ride, I started getting horrible tailbone AND rectal pain. I feel like my tailbone is bruised and like I have a rock in my rectum. (Sorry to be so graphic.) X-rays showed nothing. Two doctors did digital rectal exams and said everything felt normal there. The diagnosis was bruised tailbone with possible nerve injury. My doctor prescribed oxycontin as needed and neurontin. I go very easy on the oxycontin and use it only at night when I can't sleep from the pain. The neurontin makes me very spacy and depressed. I see my doctor tomorrow and I'm going to insist on an MRI and more tests. But in the meantime, I can't work because of the pain. I tried to go back to work on a part-time basis, but it just made the pain worse. Sitting is unbearable after a few minutes. Even standing hurts. Lying down is about the only time I can get relief.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a nerve problem. I read about pudendal nerve entrapment and I wonder if that might be the case. I'm just kind of confused, scared, perplexed, and depressed......and seeking an answer. Can a bruised tailbone cause THIS much pain for 3 weeks?

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd sure love to hear from you. I'm having a hard time getting my doctor to take this seriously, or more accurately, to start searching for a diagnosis and cure that works. But I really want to get back to work and on with my life. I feel like such a burden on my husband. And I'd really like to hear if anyone else has taken neurontin and suffered depression as a result of it.

Thanks for all your help. And thank GOD for this forum.

Shady
