Broken tail bone: Halloween trick or break!

Tessa - cadhoo4@msn.com

Saturday October 29, my husband and I took our kids to a party; like any kids they didn't want mom and dad hanging around for fear of man what if mom or dad or both do something foolish to embarrass us? Humm well anyway we had met friends there and we all decided to go upstairs where most of the adults were having a few drinks. I was probably the only person there not drinking (go figure) I was the DD and there was no way that I would trust anyone there to drive my kids home. We played some pool and sat around talking at about 10 pm I decided to go and check on our kids. I stayed down there to monitor them for about 10 mins then decided everything was kosher and headed back upstairs.

I was talking to people as I headed for my chair, as I went to sit down my girlfriend's husband reached out and yanked the chair out from under me and I fell really hard on the cement floor and continued to fall backwards smashing my shoulder against the floor but managed to keep my head from hitting the floor. I laid there a minute while they were all laughing but one person who said "that was a really dumb thing to do".

I tried to get up, but I was in real pain. I knew that my shoulder was hurting bad, but I knew that my real problem was my butt. I struggled to get up and finally told my husband while pushing back the tears "I don't think I can get up", but still everyone just sat there. I finally managed to get up and sat halfways on the chair. I tried not to make a big deal out of it but I couldn't handle the pain. I sat for a few mins longer and then told my husband that I needed to go home.

I painfully waited until Monday morning before the pain overtook me and I had to go to hospital where they x-rayed, and told me that I had indeed broken my tail bone and they gave me a prescription for perks.

My friend called me the following day and asked how I was feeling. I told her not so good since I had broken my tail bone due to her husband's foolishness. She called me back the next day to report to me that she had told him what he had done and obviously he was to concerned he never even had the decency to call me himself and say he was at least sorry.

It has been 12 days now and I am still in excruciating pain, I can't do anything and my house is literally going to heck.

The Dr. says that in actuality that only 2% of cocoyx injuries are actually breaks. I was told that it will take 6-8 weeks for it to heal but I would rather hear that from people whohas gone through the same thing and get thier opinion on it. I was told by someone else who experinced a similar incident 3 years earlier that it still bothers her to this day. Please can anyone else who has actually broken thier coccyx share thier experince with me.

Sincerly

Teresa
