I have been studying the art of martial arts since the age of 11. I am now a 26 year old woman. In 1998 while I was at a Karate session we were learning how to do "Take downs" (where you take someone down to the ground who is attacking you).
When my sparring partner done it to me I fell awkwardly right onto my tailbone. Right away I was in a lot of discomfort, but carried on with the lesson.
When I got home I was in so much pain I couldn't sit down or stand up from sitting or even walk very well at all. Even now, 8 years after I still find it difficult to sit for long periods of time especially on hard surfaces. When lying on my back my tailbone sticks upwards, I have no idea if this is normal or not?
Do you think that I actually broke my tailbone? If so what should I do? Should I contact my GP?
