I want my life back!

My pain started about 15 years ago after I had my son, I went back to work and was unable to sit due to pain. I lived with this pain off and on for 14 years. Every time I went to the dr. I was given pain killers, a bone scan (which never showed anything) and told to take it easy. It was funny, it would come and go stay for about a month or 2 and then disappear until the next time. That went on until August 20, 2006 when I was sitting on the floor putting together some night stands for my bedroom when I went to get up and the pain was back. I figured once again it would go away. Went to bed that night, got up to go to work the next morning and was in horrible pain (worst it has ever been). Needless to say that day at work was agony. I am a 911 operator and my job requires me to sit for 12 hours a day. I called in sick the next day, I could not handle it. I have been off work on disability insurance ever since the 24th of august. I repeal went to see my Dr, plus a couple others just to be sure it was not in my head like I was told many times before. I was once again sent for a bone scan, and give high doses of pain meds, nothing was found and the pain meds barely took the edge off. This went on for 5 months before they finally sent me to a bone specialist. I seen him he took a normal x-ray and said yes coccyx needs to come out, and that's all he said no mention of any other treatment or options. He is the specialist so I felt I had no other choice than to have surgery. My family doctors could not figure anything out.

Had surgery on Jan 12, 2007. I woke up in recovery and felt great the pain was gone. I felt like to could run a marathon, wanted to go home that day but the Dr. said I had to stay overnight. About midnight the night of the surgery the pain hit hard, little did I know the froze me also. I didn't want to run no marathons anymore I wanted pain meds and as much as I could have. I was still released the next day and my boyfriend came and picked me up we had a 2 hour drive home and it was not pleasant. The weather was terrible and roads were bad so I forced myself to sit on my side the entire home so I could be seat belted in. I was in so much pain when I got home I thought I was dying, or at least wanted to

During my recovery I had to go for dressing changes every day at the local hospital when my b-friend was not home (he is a paramedic so he did most of the changes). About 4 days in from the initial surgery date by b-friend said there was a horrible smell, so I went to the dr. and had an infection (set me back about 2 weeks in recovery time) Finally about Feb. 5, 2007 my incision was completely healed, but now the pain has come back twice as intense as before the surgery and hurts all the time. I don't know what to do anymore. I went back to see my family Dr. and he said we will evaluate it again on the 21 of March as I am supposed to return to work on April 1.

I am so sick and tired of being out of it all the time due to pain meds. I feel like nobody knows what I am going thru and feel all alone. I know it is hard for people who don't go through this to understand but I some time feel like people think I am putting them on. How do I make them understand that I am living in severe pain every day? I want my life back!!!!!!!! The DR. only took 3 section of my coccyx out, should I have the rest taken out, or should I try something else. Does anybody have any advice? Has this happened to anybody else? Would appreciate any type of advice.

By the way I am from a little town in northern Alberta we don't have specialist per say up here, we would have to travel at 8 hours to see a good Dr providing you can get in.

Update, 2007-04-01

Since I had my surgery on Jan 12 I have had severe increased pain. Went back to my surgeon and he said there is nothing more he could surgically, but asked about my medical history, and I have a extensive history of endometriosis. I have had my ovaries removed due to this disease (illness) and had a total of 5 surgeries. He is now telling me that this is what the pain is coming from. Has anybody else been told this or suffered coccyx pain and suffered from endometriosis? If you have, what if anything helped or what was done, cause I cant handle this.
