In agony since birth of big baby

Since giving birth to my 10 lb 7.5 oz baby boy in October 2007, I have been experiencing terrible pain in my coccyx. The pain is worse when sitting, and going from sitting to standing. I also have a dull ache in the bottom of my back. I cannot walk far, go to the gym anymore, I even have trouble picking up my baby boy. It has nearly been a year now, and I have left work after been off sick for 5 months. I have tried physiotherapy and lots of different pain killers (didn't work) and am now waiting to be admitted for steroid injections next week.

I hate needles and was wondering if any of you could tell me about your experiences of steroid injections and if they helped.
