6 days after surgery

My surgery was scheduled at for 10:00 am on 17 July 2008. I had to be at the hospital at 8:00 am.

Needless to say everything was great. Dr. came in and talk to be before surgery explained everything that was going to happen. Of course went in and had the surgery, when I came to I had a severe headache (Nurse told me that might of been because I am a coffee drinker and hadn't had any coffee). I at one time remember hearing the nurse's talking about how much numbing mechine the Dr. had put in. Needless to say I was not in any pain at all at this point.

After recovery room they took me back to the room that I was in before my surgery. Nurse in there was telling me how good I was doing. My brother came and picked me up within the hour of being back in the room.

When he came and got me, we went to get my prescriptions filled. I was able to sit up in the car for the ride home and to get prescriptions. Still no pain... a little stiff but, I can't say that I was in pain at all. After getting prescriptions filled (and walking around shopping for a pillow and blanket while they were filling prescriptions) I started to fill a little nauseated, (Really think that was because, I had told nurse that as sooner as I got out of surgery I wanted coffee and she made sure that I did get my coffee when I got out. My fault) Anyway, after I got home and settled in I did get sick, I did get sick about 5 times that night but, I really think that had more to do with my anesthesia.

I was not able to take a shower for 4 days after the surgery (Dr. orders) The Dr. had put me on antibiotics and a fungal med. (Fagyl) the night before my surgery. So after surgery I had to get Lortab and just over the counter stool softeners and continue the other medicines.

I must say that I did not have a stool for 2 days after the surgery and before the surgery I was not a regular person at bowel movements and needless to say I have been now.

I am now 6 days post op and I have been walking around the house and cleaning and things. I can't bend over to pick things up off the floor or reach high up yet but, over all things are not real bad.

Incision looks really good. no stitches on the outside. Been putting neosporin on it and of course keeping it covered. But, not in A LOT of pain. Can't sit straight up yet I kind of lean to one side as I sit still. Only because, that really does hurt. I've taken 2 weeks off work and plan on going back with a donut pillow. Sitting on a regular pillow now as I type this.
