I am writing you from Madrid in Spain. I am 30 years old now and I have had lots of pain during one year and a half, diagnosis has been a nightmare ever since: I have been constantly misdiagnosed. First they thought it was a slipped disk, then spondilitis, then the slipped disk again, finally rheumatic arthritis, I followed many treatments and medications and none of this made my pain go away.

Now thanks to my therapist it all starts to take shape, he was the first to examine and touch well my coccyx and we realized that this point is where it hurts the most. During the last days I asked several doctors to examine my coccyx and they agreed on this, so I am going to visit doctor Maigne in Paris. The funny thing is that none of the doctors dared to touch my coccyx well during the last 18 months!! Were they ashamed or did they run out of plastic gloves? And all the x-rays concentrated in other parts of the body: upper discs, sacroiliac joints... Thanks to my physiotherapist, I asked my doctors to examine with care my coccyx, they confirmed that I have coccidinia. So I looked at the internet to see what coccidinia was. Thanks to your website, I got to talk to Mireille, she was very nice and she has reinforced my idea of visiting Mr. Maigne, giving me very useful details and tips about how to come back from Paris with less pain.

I can strongly recommend my physiotherapist, he is both physiotherapist and osteopath, I have been to many of them and this one is the best ever, please suggest it in your website he is called Vicente Matellano (see Doctors and specialists in Spain) in Madrid, Spain. He has been my salvation as he has just examined and found what many other doctors didn't. If Dr. Maigne thinks that I should go through physical therapy I will only keep doing so with Vicente, I will not waste my time with other unexpensive and no-interested therapists.

I also transformed my rubber ring into a "coccyx adapted rubber ring", my dad got the idea and transformed it with just American tape as you can see in the pictures. Really unexpensive solution and for me it works better than the expensive cushions that you will find in the shop!

Update, 2009-09-20

Here are 2 pictures of a new solution that my dad came up with. It is a pool noodle, cut into 3 parts and customized with american tape and a rope. Adding a small rope to keep them tight is very important as without the rope the noodles tend to move. It is a great solution so far, even better than the customized rubber ring, and quite comfortable+cheap. I have put some cloth cover over it so that it looks a little nicer.
