Travel home from surgery?

Do any of you have experienced-based advice for the best way to travel home from tailbone removal surgery? I have at least a 2-1/2 hour ride home. We have a minivan where the front passenger seat leans back 3/4 of the way? Would this and a pillow be good? I kind of liked the idea of a crib-sized mattress in the back of the van, but my husband isn't comfortable with the idea of me not being in a seatbeat. Thoughts?

I'd appreciate any other tips for making recovery as comfortable and healing as possible.
