Vitamin D3 supplements cured my coccyx pain

I was struggling with severe pain in the coccyx for two years, increasingly getting worse. The last 6 months I could not sit at all and was either laying down or standing up/walking. I was getting increasingly worried and it, as I'm sure you know, affected me a lot mentally as well. The only solution I could see out of this would be a coccydynia which really scared me and also something very few surgeons perform or have experience with. My local hospital in Sweden had never even heard of it being performed before. I tried just about everything suggested on your website, even internal manipulation, with no results. I happened to stumble upon an article talking about low vitamin D3 levels and bone pain. I was very sceptical as I eat very healthy but decided to order a home test for Vitamin D.. to my surprise (but glimmer of hope) it was extremely low, below 20 nmol/L.

As the article explains without sufficient levels of vitamin D the body cannot keep the right calcium level in the blood and hence literally has to "eat/use" the calcium in our bones. I cannot find the article/website at the moment but the relation between bone related issues and vitamin D deficiency is well known. As I was saying I was eating healthy and even using supplements with vitamin D. I later realised through research that the levels provided in a standard multivitamin is nowhere near what's needed and often the cheaper vitamin D2 is used which is much more difficult for the body to absorb. I started to buy vitamin D3 at 4000 UI (100 micrograms) and I could see results within 2 weeks and now at about 3 months I have no trouble sitting at all, it is just totally out of my awareness and not an issue in my life any more.

I think this could be the cause of many sufferers (vitamin D deficiency is very common in the world). I feel I owe it to all the sufferers out there because I remember the desperation and pain involved with this condition.

In the article it is also suggested that if you are vegan or vegetarian you also, in addition to vitamin D should make sure you get all 9 essential amino-acids as they are essential in the production of collagen which can also be a factor (myself I felt like the tailbone was just 'hanging loose' and collagen keeps the bones/joints 'together' and make them able to sustain pressure). You cannot get all essential amino acids without supplements if you are only eating a plant based diet.

Update, 2022-10-23

I am still pain-free today. It seems long-term vitamin D deficiency was causing this problem.
