Coccyx dislocated backwards and stuck

Injury to coccyx in October 2020 from sitting back on hard arm of a sofa. It was extremely painful. I thought my coccyx was just badly bruised and so gave it time to rest and heal but the pain when sitting down and standing up from that position was extreme.

After months of pain and without improvement I was directed to Dr Michael Durtnall (see Doctors and specialists in the UK, London) by my chiropractor. I went to see Michael at his clinic in Kensington at the beginning of March 2021. He said my injury was one of the more severe cases he had seen and X-rays showed that my coccyx had been dislocated backwards and was stuck. The surrounding muscles of injury were also very tense and causing further pain in other areas of my lower back. After our first meeting I finally felt understood and hopeful that the treatment would help.

I have had about 5 sessions now with Michael and I am already feeling an improvement of about 80%. I am so happy with the progress as the injury was really affecting my usually active lifestyle and I was concerned of this being a permanent pain and problem for life.

Dr Durtnall is professional, supportive and I felt at ease with the internal manipulation of the coccyx. I am so pleased with the improvement so far and feel very grateful to have met such a competent and experienced doctor in this field. I can't thank Dr Durtnall enough for bringing me back from a low point with the pain and would highly recommend to anyone suffering with coccyx pain! Hopefully after a few more sessions I will be fully healed.

Update, 2022-06-26

I attended sessions with Dr Durtnall around every 2-3 weeks from March 21 up until December 21. I noticed an improvement almost immediately, and with a slight regression during that year, I am now so pleased that I am pain free! I use a support cushion if I know I will be sitting down for a longer period with a harder surface.

I am now much more aware of the importance of posture. Once again I am so pleased I found Dr Durtnall and very thankful for his help with recovery.
