I suffered with coccyx pain for approximately 2 years after falling off a chair. I forgot about the fall as the pain didn't start straight away but after a while I developed coccyx pain when sitting. Car journeys and sitting on any remotely hard surface would be extremely painful and I began to dread going out knowing by the end of the day I would be in extreme discomfort. I tried many different treatments including massage, acupuncture, osteopathy, low level laser and Scenar therapies but nothing relieved the pain.
Last August I began researching coccydynia treatments and came across the coccyx.org website. I was very encouraged by the personal accounts I read about the realignment procedure and I was relieved to discover that there was a doctor in Harley Street, London. I made an appointment to see Stephen Sandler (see Doctors and specialists in the UK, London). He explained that he would do an examination to assess whether my coccyx was misaligned and that if it was he would be able to correct it.
I was actually hugely relieved when he confirmed that it was a classic case of misalignment and that he could correct it there and then. The procedure only took a few minutes and was not painful, just a little uncomfortable. Stephen said it was very possible that I would only need one session, but to come for another adjustment if after a few weeks I was still in discomfort. Things did still feel sore for a few weeks, so I returned about 6 weeks later, but mainly for reassurance that the coccyx was still in the right place, which it was. Since then, things have improved massively and the coccyx pain has now gone.
I can not thank Stephen enough for ridding me of this horrible pain. I have recommended him to a few friends with similar issues. Stephen is kind, professional and at the top of his field in osteopathy, I can not recommend him highly enough!
